Current opportunity

Field / Construction Quality Assurance Technician

This is not a desk job. It is hands-on field work for someone who is comfortable traveling extensively, working outdoors around active construction, documenting what they see, and taking responsibility for doing the work correctly.

What the work looks like

The technician works in construction and environmental field settings performing quality-assurance observation and documentation. The work may involve long days outdoors, active equipment, changing project schedules, and assignments away from home. Travel is a central part of the position—not an occasional exception.

In the field

Observe construction activities, follow project requirements and procedures, communicate with contractors and project personnel, and document field conditions and work performed.

On the road

Travel to project locations around the country and adapt to project schedules. Candidates need to be genuinely comfortable spending substantial time away from home.

Who may translate well

Direct CQA experience can be valuable, but it is not the only path into this work. We are also interested in people whose background shows they can succeed in a demanding field environment.

  • Construction or construction-materials testing (CMT)
  • Environmental, landfill, civil, geotechnical, or earthwork field experience
  • Oil & gas, utilities, waste, industrial, or other traveling field work
  • People who are mechanically inclined, observant, dependable, and comfortable learning technical procedures
  • Early-career candidates with the right work ethic and willingness to travel

Read this part carefully.

We would rather lose an application now than have someone discover after accepting the job that the lifestyle does not work for them.

  • Travel is extensive. You may be away from home for extended project assignments.
  • The work is outdoors. Heat, cold, dust, mud, rain, and active construction environments are part of field work.
  • Hours can vary. Construction schedules, weather, project needs, and travel can affect the workday.
  • You need to communicate. You will interact with contractors and project personnel and must be able to document information clearly.
  • Dependability matters. When you are assigned to a project, people are relying on you to be there and do the work correctly.
